CONNECTING TO FARESHARE USING SNAK FOR MACINTOSH 1. First, download the current version of the IRC program, Snak; it is available at: 2. After decompressing the program, connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Then, double click on the Snak application you just downloaded.
3. Under the
Windows menu, select "Connections", or simply press 4. A pop-up window will appear called "Network List." Select the "Networks" tab. Press the "Add" button. A new window appears called "New Network." Under "Title," type in "StarChat." You can then fill in your nickname, alternate nickname, user name and password. 5. Press "Add" in the next box down. Next to "Network" at the top of this window, press and hold the pop-up box. Select the last option on this list, called Other Network. 6. Press "New", then next to "Server," type "StarChat." Next to "Port," type "6667." Next to "Timeout," type "40 seconds." Press "OK" three times. 7. The only window open now should be "Network List," and "StarChat" should appear in it.
8. Type 9. FareShare will now appear in the "Join" window. Click on "cancel" to close this window. 10. To sign onto FareShare, you must first select the server called "StarChat" that we have already set up. To do this, go to the "File" menu, select "Open Connection," then "StarChat." Within a few seconds, you will be connected.
11. Now you
must select the channel or chat room you want, in this case, FareShare.
Under the "Tools" menu, select "Channel," then
select #FareShare. You are now connected to the chat, and, if it is
in progress, the names of the other attendees will appear on your
"User List." If you do not see this list, type 12. Type away - and have fun! These instructions are by chefmad 08/2000. To contact chefmad, E-Mail him at: chefmad2002@yahoo.com
