French Toast Strips

Orange Kirsch Sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup grated orange peel
A small amount of Kirsch
French Toast
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
12 slices white bread -- (thin slices)
[crusts trimmed if desired]
2 tablespoons butter or margarine -- (approximately)
Prepare the Orange Kirsch Sugar as follows: mix the 1/2 cup sugar, the 1/4
cup grated orange peel and a small amount of Kirsch together. Set aside.
Slightly beat the eggs with the milk, sugar and salt in a shallow bowl. Mix
in the orange peel.
Cut each bread slice into 3 strips. Dip each strip into the egg mixture,
coating all sides; allow excess to drain off before frying. Brown the strips
in hot butter in a skillet; add butter as necessary to prevent sticking.
Serve hot with Orange Kirsch Sugar.
Serves 6.
