* Exported from MasterCook * Hot Sweet and Sour Cabbage Slaw Recipe By : Recipe by Art Guyer, dressing by his MIL, Alma Kirkpatrick Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 9-09 Sep 2006 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- Slaw: 1/2 head cabbage -- shredded 1 medium sweet onion -- diced 1 medium carrot -- cleaned and diced 2 tablespoons olive oil -- divided 1 teaspoon steak seasoning -- with salt Dressing: 1 cup sugar 2 eggs -- beaten 2 teaspoons flour 1 teaspoon butter 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard 1 cup vinegar -- or a little less Combine cabbage, onion and carrot; toss until thoroughly mixed. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and seasoning; toss until coated. Set aside. For the dressing, combine all of the ingredients in a small sauce pan and cook until thoroughly heated and smooth. It should thicken up nicely in 5 to 7 minutes. Stir frequently. Heat a wok and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Heat until nearly smoking. Add cabbage mixture and stir fry for a couple of minutes, tossing frequently. Turn heat down and cover until the cabbage has wilted. Add the dressing and toss and continue cooking until it is all back up to temperature. Serve immediately. Description : "A tangy and different side dish."
