Contributed to the FareShare Gazette by Chupa; 7 July 2006. www.fareshare.net - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * Exported from MasterCook * Irish Red Lentil Savoury - Vegetarian Recipe By : Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 9-07 Jul 2006 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 6 ounces red lentils -- (3/8 pound) 1 teaspoon brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs 14 ounces tomatoes -- (1 can) 2 onions -- chopped 2 tablespoons tomato purée 2 ounces vegetarian margarine 1/2 teaspoon basil salt and pepper 1/2 cup sour cream 6 ounces vegetarian cheddar cheese Place the lentils in a pan with enough water to cover them. Add the herbs and simmer until tender. Sauté the onion in the margarine until soft. Add the lentils and all other ingredients apart from the cheese and cream. Simmer for 15 minutes and pour into a greased ovenproof dish. Slice the cheese and place on top with the cream, then grill or bake at 180C/350F/gas mark 4, until the cheese has melted.
