* Exported from MasterCook * Unbaked Chocolate Oat Drops Recipe By : Alberta Agriculture 1986 Serving Size : 48 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 9-03 Mar 2006 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 375 milliliters granulated sugar -- (1 1/2 cups) 50 milliliters cocoa -- (1/4 cup) 125 milliliters milk -- (1/2 cup) 125 milliliters butter or margarine -- (1/2 cup) 425 milliliters rolled oats -- (1 3/4 cups) 125 milliliters shredded coconut -- (1/2 cup) 125 milliliters toasted wheat germ -- (1/2 cup) * * To toast wheat germ, spread on baking sheet and bake in 180C (350F) oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown. In large heavy saucepan combine sugar, cocoa, milk and butter. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for 3 minutes without stirring. Add rolled oats, coconut and wheat germ; boil 1 minute. Remove from heat and beat until slightly dull, 1 to 2 minutes. Quickly drop by teaspoonful onto waxed paper. If mixture spreads, beat a little longer. Let cool until firm and store in airtight container. Yields 4 dozen. These no-bake candy-like cookies have been a favourite with Canadian children for generations.
