* Exported from MasterCook * West Texas Baked Steak Recipe By : Southwest Cuisine Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 8-05 May 2005 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 1/4 pounds boneless round steak 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 (8-ounce) jar taco sauce 1 (4-ounce) can chopped green chilies 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut steak into 4 pieces. Pound to 1/2-inch thickness with a meat mallet. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak. Cook until browned on both sides, about 10 minutes. Place steak in a baking dish. Pour taco sauce over steak. Bake, covered, until tender, about 40 minutes. Spoon chilies over steak. Sprinkle with Monterey Jack. Bake, uncovered, until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes. Preparation time: 15 min. Cooking time: 45 min.
