Karelian Hot Pot - Finnish Midsummer

10 ounces chuck steak -- cubed
10 ounces pork shoulder -- cubed
10 ounces stewing lamb or mutton -- cubed
2 onions -- chopped
Salt
Allspice
Water
Preheat oven to 350F.
Put the meat and onion in layers in a casserole dish, seasoning each
layer with salt and allspice. Add enough water to almost cover the meat.
Bake, uncovered for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Cover casserole 1/2 hour before it
is done.
Serve with pureed lingonberries.
