Beat egg yolks and add 1/2 cup sugar. Add egg yolk mixture gradually to scalded milk. Stir constantly. Allow to cook for one minute and then add cracker crumbs and coconut. Stir until cracker crumbs are soft and mixture is thick. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour into a buttered baking dish. Spread with meringue made by beating 3 Tablespoons of sugar into stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake at 350 degrees F. until the meringue is golden brown. Place crispex in large bowl and pour melted mixture over. Stir. Place powdered sugar in a large paper bag and drop the mixture in small batches in powdered sugar. Shake and remove to a large pan or wax paper to cool and dry. Pour cereal into large bowl. Pour melted mixture over cereal to completely coat. Let cool. Place powdered sugar into another large bowl or a paper grocery bag. Pour coated cereal mixture into bowl or bag. Shake until completely coated. If it seems too much mix to handle at one time, divide ingredients in half and make it twice.
