* Exported from MasterCook * Orange and Coffee Bean Cordial Recipe By :Making Liqueurs for Gifts by Mimi Freid; 1988 Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 4-7 July 2001 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 large orange -- (extra large) 44 coffee beans 44 sugar cubes 1 piece vanilla beans -- (1 inch) 1 pint cognac -- (.5 L) Wash orange and make as many small slits in it as possible. Stick a coffee bean in each slit and place the rest of the beans in the jar. Add the sugar cubes and the orange. Pour in cognac and add vanilla bean. Let the drink mature for 1 1/2 to 2 months. Strain, squeezing juice from orange; filter. Ready to serve. Yields 1 pint (.5 liter). Author's notes:Use a very wide mouth quart jar. Vodka or rum may be used in place of the cognac.
