Deep Dish Apple Pie

                        Filling:
  5                     tart green apples -- peel,
                        core and slice thin -- (5 to 6)
                        Crust:
  1                cup  brown sugar
  1                cup  flour
     1/4      teaspoon  salt
     1/8      teaspoon  nutmeg
     1/8      teaspoon  cinnamon -- (1/8 to 1/4)
     1/2           cup  butter -- 1 stick
Fill buttered dish with sliced apples.
Mix the brown sugar, flour, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon then cut in 
butter until mixture resembles corn meal.
Put a few pats of butter on top of apple slices and sprinkle with some 
cinnamon and white sugar.
Pat crust on top of apple slices and pat down carefully to cover 
edges.
Bake at 325 for 50 minutes or until apple slices are soft.
