1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon Grand Marnier
or any good quality orange liqueur
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups sour cream
Zest of one orange
1 cup chopped walnuts
Topping:
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup orange juice
1/3 cup Grand Marnier
blanched slivered almonds 1. Preheat oven to 350 deg. 2. Cream: 1 cup butter with 1 cup sugar until pale and fluffy. 3. Beat in: 3 egg yolks, one at a time. 4. Add: 1 teaspoon Grand Marnier 5. Sift together: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1
teaspoon baking soda. 6. Add dry ingredients to batter, alternating with 1 1/2 cups sour cream,
beginning and ending with dry ingredients and mixing until smooth. 7. Stir in zest of 1 orange and 1 cup chopped walnuts. 8. Beat until stiff, 3 egg whites. Fold into batter. Pour batter into a
greased 9-inch tube pan. 9. Bake in 350 deg. oven for 50-55 minutes, or until cake tests done. Topping: Combine 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup orange juice
1/3 cup Grand Marnier Pour over hot cake while it is in the pan. Sprinkle with blanched slivered
almonds and let cake cool before removing from the pan. Enjoy with a hot cup or tea or coffee. This is an excellent cake. Not too sweet. Very moist and keeps well for
several days. I first made this cake while attending cooking classes in
