* Exported from MasterCook * The Challenge of Halloween Recipe By : Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 3-10 Oct. 2000 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- See Below Kids with diabetes face a challenge on Halloween: what to do with all the candy. While their friends are busy consuming their trick-or-treat booty, kids with diabetes must be more careful. There are many possible approaches to helping kids with diabetes enjoy Halloween, including: Exchange candy collected while trick-or-treating with something else, such as a small toy or money. Younger kids might like this, especially since they can get something more permanent than candy. Donate candy collected -- or most of it -- to a local children's hospital or your local American Diabetes Association. Older kids might feel good about helping other kids. Keep selected candy and fit it into your child's meal plan. With carb counting and Humalog, you can easily accommodate an occasional treat. Look on the bright side: your kids won't be the ones sick from eating too much candy. If I've a floured surface, try dampening the countertop and spreading with butchers' or waxed paper while still damp. If you're going to be pressing hard on the surface, you can reinforce the 'grip' with tape on the corners. Then when you're done, simply remove paper. If doing slicing, dicing or the like of veggies or even meats: Spread paper towels under cutting board and add a generous space above that for the discards if you've no garbage disposal.
