* Exported from MasterCook * Dutch Apple Panini Recipe By : Michigan Apple Council Serving Size : 2 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 13-01 Jan 2010 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 slices whole wheat bread or marbled rye or multi-grain bread 3 slices Old Amsterdam Dutch style cheese 1 apple -- cored, thinly sliced [Macintosh, Fuji or Granny Smith] 2 thin slices cooked lean ham -- or prosciutto or apple-wood smoked bacon 2 tablespoons butter Compose two sandwiches with first 4 ingredients. Spread top of each sandwich with butter. Heat grill pan and place sandwiches butter side down. Place a heavy skillet on top to secure and cook until golden brown and crispy on bottom (about 2 minutes). Remove heavy skillet and spread remaining butter on top of sandwich before turning over. Top with heavy skillet again and cook until brown and crispy, about 1 minute. Serves 2.
