* Exported from MasterCook * Deep Dark Chocolate Cake Recipe By : Serving Size : Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 12-03 Mar 2009 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 3/4 cups flour 2 cups sugar 3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2 eggs 1 cup milk 1/2 cup oil 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 cup boiling water **Flour Frosting** 1/4 cup flour 1 cup milk 1 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup butter 1 teaspoon vanilla 1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. 2. Add remaining ingredients except boiling water; beat at medium speed 2 minutes. 3. Remove from mixer, add boiling water. 4. Pour into two greased and floured 9-inch or three 8-inch or one 13x9- inch pan. 5. Bake at 350F. for 30-35 minutes for layers, 35-40 minutes for 13x9-inch pan or until cake tester comes out clean. 6. Cool 10 minutes on rack. 7. Remove from pans, cool completely. 8. Top with your favorite frosting. (We use flour frosting.) **Flour Frosting** Combine 1/4 cup flour, 1 cup milk; cook until smooth and thickened. Cool very well. Combine 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup shortening, 1/2 cup butter. Beat well. Add cooled flour mixture and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Beat VERY, VERY well. If you don't beat it well enough it will be soupy. I have a Kitchen Aid and it takes several minutes in it.
