* Exported from MasterCook * Turkey Cabbage Bake Recipe By :Irene Gutz, Fort Dodge, Iowa Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Volume 11-08 Aug 2008 Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 packages refrigerated crescent rolls -- (8 ounces each) 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup finely chopped carrot 1 teaspoon minced garlic 2 cups finely chopped cabbage 10 3/4 ounces condensed cream of mushroom soup -- undiluted [1 can] 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese -- (4 ounces) Unroll one tube of crescent dough into one long rectangle; seal seams and perforations. Press onto the bottom of a greased 13-inch x 9-inch x 2-inch baking dish. Bake at 425F. for 6-8 minutes or until golden brown. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the turkey, onion, carrot and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the cabbage, soup and thyme. Pour over crust; sprinkle with cheese. On a lightly floured surface, press second tube of crescent dough into a 13-inch x 9-inch rectangle, sealing seams and perforations. Place over casserole. Bake, uncovered, at 375F. for 14-16 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Yields 6 servings. "Crescent rolls help it go together quickly and it's often requested." Bobbie's Note: I made half of this in an 8x8-inch dish and it easily made 4 large servings. We liked it a lot. Next time I may try with ground beef.
