-------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 cup butter -- not margarine
-melted -- (1 stick)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa
-or European style cocoa
1 1/4 cups ground almonds
2 tablespoons almond liqueur -- OR
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
sliced almonds -- (optional) Heat oven to 325 F. Grease 8 inch square baking pan. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy.
Add eggs, flour and cocoa; beat well.
Stir in ground almonds and almond liqueur. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 35-40 minutes or just until set. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares. Makes about 16 squares. Hershey's 100 Anniversary Cookbook, p. 74 Discussion:
